In a countryside location near Talgarth, Niel Bally runs weekend painting and drawing courses
and a six-day landscape workshop in July. The house is welcoming and is set within a walled
garden with fine views across the open countryside. The classes are small with a maximum
of eight. The studio is spacious and fully equipped, with a high ceiling and skylight. The house
provides a relaxed atmosphere, sitting room, art books, teas, coffees and delicious
home-cooked lunches by Sue Bally - all included in the tuition and course fees at
£50 a day. Accommodation is separate, the closest being our immediate neighbours who
run a 5-Star Bed and Breakfast.
TUITION
Niel Bally received a traditional training from the Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing
in Oxford and the West Surrey College of Art and Design. Since the 1980s he has run
his own courses and taught in a number of art schools and adult education colleges.
He has exhibited widely and some examples of his work can be viewed on this website.
Underpinning Niel's teaching abilities is a significant breadth of experience and understanding
of both modern and traditional approaches to representational and abstract art. His courses
are practical, skill-based and suitable for all levels including beginners. Their aim is to encourage,
provide direction and the means for someone to develop their own work and broaden their appreciation
of art from both a modern and historical perspective.
